Are you brave enough to ask for staff feedback?
There’s often a misperception in the workplace that are staff are there to do a job.
But what many businesses miss is that if you support and empower your employees on the journey, it will not only improve their wellbeing but also improve their work. Feedback from your team can help raise profitability by streamlining processes and can also increase employee satisfaction.
A recent article from Indeed highlighted how seeking employee feedback can help you in many ways:
- It opens up communication channels which will lead to a better work atmosphere and culture.
- It encourages the workforce to use their initiative to try and solve any problems that may arise.
- It gives those the that do the job the opportunity to point out any time saving efficiencies that could be implemented to improve productivity.
- Staff become more motivated as they feel more included.
- Workplace culture improves.
- You retain staff as they feel more valued.
Even asking opinions on the layout of the office can have a positive impact. Here at Payroll Hub and A P Robinson & Co, we conducted a staff survey two years ago to gauge staff opinions on certain things. Whilst the feedback was positive, it also gave the staff a forum to express their opinion on things that mattered to them. Since then, we have been able to implement some changes and improvements inspired by the feedback, including:
- We now have a social room to gather for lunch.
- The offices have been decorated by each team in a style that makes them feel comfortable.
- We have breakfast provided once a month.
- We are getting together more often for social occasions.
- We have a well-being room.
Staff wellbeing and happiness is very important to us – that’s why we’re always asking for feedback and looking at ways to make our workplace the best it can be.
